It was with heavy hearts we received the news that Kyla Ann passed away yesterday, a month shy of her 11th birthday. To all who knew her, she was a sweet soul. We enjoyed our life together with hikes in Forest Park, many trips to Cannon Beach, and hanging out at Starbucks every weekend morning.
The move to Rome caused us to find her a new home last March. It would have been a hard transitionĀ for Kyla: steep marble stairs and quirky old elevators are not a formula for success with arthritic joints. We are so grateful to Charlie and Karen for taking her into their home, and most importantly, into their hearts.
Kyla, you were one of a kind. Rest in peace, girlfriend. We will treasure the memories!
Laurel & Ric – am behind in catching up w you via your wonderful blog. Well I just shed some tears over the beautiful soul of Kyla passing. And over came mr. gus to console me. You all had a wonderful connection with that dog that I know you will always treasure. Old Gus was diagonosed w lymphoma the other week. They say he has several week or several months. But true to form he is still ushering me out for walks every day and quite perrky. I give him at least a year w his 9 lives, but who knows………….. dogs are such a Gift. Carolyn

Dear Laurel & Ric,
My heart is broken for you. To know she is at peace and running up above without pain is some comfort. She made sure you will not forget all your wonderful memories together. She was too beautiful not to remember. Give Libby and Janie a hug for her. I’m sure they miss her also.
Love ya, Carolyn

Thank you Carolyn. Libby adn Jane were pretty confused when Kyla left home, but I suspect they feel the disturbance in the force, too.

We picture her prancing down the street, laying under your Starbucks table guarding her ‘treats’. Until one day she was okay with sharing her ‘treats’ with Gracie. What a sweetheart. We were delighted to know she found a new family to love her, and now we will picture her with angel wings lounging with a bucket of tasty heavenly treats. Goodbye, Miss Kyla. Thanks for the memories. Mary and Gracie

Thank you dear Gayle. Kyla preferred wine, but lamb & rice will do. š I do think she had a good life, and she certainly enriched ours.
